Public Goods Through the Eyes of a Freshman

A Public Good Through the Eyes of College Freshmen

-Mike Moffatt

so, i thought i'd do a little blog on this article cuz it kinda made me laugh and also talked a little about public goods too.

it gives a prettymuch textbook defenition of public goods in the first part. it also gives me a little hope that if i don't happen to pass the AP exam there's still hope because the question that the article shows answers to was on a midterm for a freshman econ class. the question was simply to define a "public good."

that, and because it was kinda entertaining to read some of the answers. i hope we all did better than that on our test. haha.

I can say that you won't see a university test that looks anything like the AP exam - at least, none of the tests I ever took in college looked like that! The plus for taking it now is that you'll be ahead in college - the minus is that...well, you actually work harder, I think, in many ways.

I love the "this is the answer you get with Metallica's drummer in your class". too funny!

Or...even better..."A public good is."

Thanks for the laugh!

Is that real? I hope I did better than that on my AP exam. I am a little nervous for what the actual exams and tests in college are going to be like. Funny stuff!

Gina: picture mostly writing, 2 or 3 questions to cover a semester's worth of work. In your first 2 years, that might be a little different, and there will usually be a paper or something in the middle there, and a mid-term exam. But I never had a college exam that looked ANYTHING like the AP exam - and I was in college for a grand total of...well...10 years, counting part-time work while I was earning tuition money and grad school.

Man, that's sad.
